Members Evening: Monday 22nd August 2016 7p.m. Andrew Muirhead
We have a special evening planned for late Summer in the form of
a talk by the famous German leather-designer, Volker Koch, on the
innovative work of his London studio. The event will start at 7
p.m. and take place in the Bridgeton factory of Andrew Muirhead and
Sons Ltd. (273-289 Dunn St, Glasgow G40 3EA). After the talk
there will be a brief tour of the factory and then a buffet supper.
Tickets priced £20 are available now from the Clerk.
Now that the craftsmen at Galgael in Govan have nearly finished
our new Box, we are delighted to invite all members of the
Craft, family and friends. to our Box-Opening Supper in the Saloon
of the Trades Hall on Thursday May 5th at 7 p.m. There will be a
buffet supper, drinks, musical entertainment and, we hope, several
former Deacons ready to contribute material from their year(s) in
office to the Box, which should prove a valuable archive for the
Incorporation. Tickets priced £25 will be available shortly.
The Big Lunch
This will take place in the Marriott Hotel on Friday 20th May
2016 at 12 noon. The cause is the House's own new charity, Kinship
Care. As the chairman is a Cordiner, Dr Alistair Dorward, Collector
of the House, it is hoped that Cordiners will make a particular
effort to bring tables of guests. The tickets will be available
shortly and cost £50 a head.
The Cordiners' Box has not been seen for many years so we have
commissioned a new one from a remarkable group in Govan called the
Galgael Trust. We hope to have it ready for May and to have a
pleasant soirée - details to follow.
