Box-Opening Supper

The Box-Opening of the Incorporation of Cordiners will take place in the Saloon on the evening of Tuesday 9th May 2017 at 7 p.m.  Tickets at £25 are available now from the Clerk, Tom Monteith, and will include a buffet supper.


Deacon's Choosing Dinner

The Deacon's Choosing Dinner this year is on Friday February 3rd 2017 at 6 for 6.30 p.m. Do round up as many people as you can for what will be a spectacular evening. the ticket price has actually come down this year to £60 per head.




Trades House Burns Supper


Organised by a Cordiner, Late Collector of the House, Alistair Dorward, and with our deacon, Adrian Pierott, giving the the Toast to the Lassies, this is an excellent event well worthy of our support.

Annual General Meeting and Choosing Day Friday 16th September 8.45 a.m.

As usual, the Incorporation of Cordiners will be the first of the Crafts to have its AGM, which will take place in the Saloon on Friday 16th September at 8.45 a.m. The incoming Deacon is Dr Adrian Pierotti and the incoming Collector will be John Lloyd. Accounts and papers will go out shortly to all Cordiners: please try to come along to the meeting which will be followed by the traditional breakfast.

Old Deacons' Dinner - Edinburgh Castle Friday 9th September 7 p.m.


Kindly hosted by Late Deacon Colonel Beverly Bergman, the Old Deacons' Dinner will once again take place in the Officers' Mess at Edinburgh Castle. All former Deacons of the Cordiners have been notified but if you have not yet told us you are coming, please let us know as soon as possible.

Members Evening: Monday 22nd August 2016 7p.m. Andrew Muirhead & Sons

We have a special evening planned for late Summer in the form of a talk by the famous German leather-designer, Volker Koch, on the innovative work of his London studio. The event will start at 7 p.m. and take place in the Bridgeton factory of Andrew Muirhead and Sons Ltd. (273-289 Dunn St, Glasgow G40 3EA). After the talk there will be a brief tour of the factory and then a buffet supper. Tickets priced £20 are available now from the Clerk.



The Box-Opening

Now that the craftsmen at Galgael in Govan have nearly finished our new Box,  we are delighted to invite all members of the Craft, family and friends. to our Box-Opening Supper in the Saloon of the Trades Hall on Thursday May 5th at 7 p.m. There will be a buffet supper, drinks, musical entertainment and, we hope, several former Deacons ready to contribute material from their year(s) in office to the Box, which should prove a valuable archive for the Incorporation. Tickets priced £25 will be available shortly.                                                   

The Big Lunch

This will take place in the Marriott Hotel on Friday 20th May 2016 at 12 noon. The cause is the House's own new charity, Kinship Care. As the chairman is a Cordiner, Dr Alistair Dorward, Collector of the House, it is hoped that Cordiners will make a particular effort to bring tables of guests. The tickets will be available shortly and cost £50 a head.


The Cordiners' Box has not been seen for many years so we have commissioned a new one from a remarkable group in Govan called the Galgael Trust. We hope to have it ready for May and to have a pleasant soirée - details to follow.





Deacon's Choosing Dinner - Friday 5th February 2016

We are delighted that the brilliant young pianist, Declan Forde, a finalist in the BBC Young Jazz Musician of the Year 2015, has agreed to play for our Choosing Dinner on February 5th 2016. 



Cordiners' Conversazione Theatre Royal Wednesday January 13th 2016

PART ONE: Conversazione from 5 p.m. - 7 p.m. £25 each;  drinks and canapés in the Top Bar. 
The canapés will be made by the incomparable Richie Holmes, chef extraordinaire at the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons.  James Lang, the marketing director of the Scottish Leather Group, will give us a short presentation on the Theatre Royal project which I think we will all agree is cordwaining at its most classy. 
PART TWO: Scottish Ballet: Prokofiev's  CINDERELLA 7.30 p.m. £22 per stalls seat
After the Conversazione, the plan is that those who wish to will go in a block booking to see Christopher Hampson's new production of Cinderella.
