Mackintosh House on Blythswood Square has won the Incorporation
of Gardeners most prestigious award "The Robertson Silver Spade".
Douglas Kinnaird and Stella Fraidi were presented with the award by
the Lord Provost, Sadie Docherty, at the Trades House on the 20th
Just over 250 premises were visited and judged for their
displays and 40 received awards in recogition of their outstanding
efforts. Mackintosh House has creatively planted colourful
honeysuckles and clematis around their wrought iron railings as
well as troughs of petunias and lobelia and other plants to
highight the basement garden there.

Deacon Nick Parry said "Seeing the colourful displays of flowers
and plants outside so many business premises in Glasgow lifts the
spirits of customers, staff and pedestrians just passing by.
Business owners and all those who put the effort in to create these
wonderful displays, including staff, are to be congratulated. There
are 20 new winners this year who we welcome to the awards for the
first time and many of the previous winners are receiving awards
today as they continue to improve their displays over the
