Deacon's Choosing Dinner

On 15th November, 150 people sat down to the first Lady Deacon's Choosing Dinner in the Incorporation of Bakers' proud and ancient history.  In accordance with tradition, the evening featured a fabulous tombola which this year raised some £1,875 for the Deacon's nominated charity, Bipolar Fellowship Scotland, and a quick round of Irish Bingo garnered some £1,210 for the Incorporation of Bakers, which will be used to offset some of the costs of the dinner.  The craft was fortunate enough to also benefit from an auction prize of the use of a Phantom Rolls Royce Saloon car for a shopping trip around Central London matched with a meal for up to four people at a top restaurant in Mayfair and the Bakers attracted £900 for this item, so the evening was certainly a success financially.

I thought some of you might like to see a picture of your Deacon and her Deacon's Lady, Mr Vivian Scott, on the night.   It was universally agreed that Vivian gave a splendid toast to the Trades House of Glasgow.  His speech explained why Bipolar Fellowship Scotland had been chosen as the nominated charity, how long he had known the Deacon and his experiences as one of the Deacons Ladies in this year's Chain Gang.  A warm, entertaining and refreshing view of one of the most respected institutions in Glasgow today.
