The Deacon’s Choosing Dinner

The Deacon, Sir Michael Bond and the Visiting Deacon from The Incorporation of Barbers, Mr Ross McWilliams.
The Incorporation of Bakers Choosing Dinner was held at the Trades Hall on 17 November. The evening was a great success and about 100 attended to hear the principal speakers, Sir Kenneth Calman, Chancellor of the University of Glasgow and Mr Colin Mair, Rector of the High School of Glasgow who proposed toasts to the Trades House and the Incorporation respectively. During the course of the dinner awards were made to 4 charities who had successfully bid under the newly established Bakers Awards Scheme. Events of the evening also included an auction and tombola as a result of which £5500 were added to the fund available for future Bakers Awards.
The Incorporation is grateful to all those who made donations and to the Santander Foundation which supported the dinner.
