The Bakers Awards

 The Bakers Awards

The Incorporation of Bakers of Glasgow established Bakers Awards earlier this year.  Grants for up to £1000 became available to charities or voluntary groups within the G postal code areas who are engaged in improving the quality of life and health of people who are socially disadvantaged by their lifestyles and income.  The incorporation wishes to tackle barriers to healthy eating such as affordability of food or the availability of healthy foods through the development of positive attitudes to sensible eating, the improvement of food selection and food preparation including baking.

Of the 27 applications made for grants, 4 have been awarded to date to the following charities:-

Drumchapel Disabled Action

The Preshal Trust

The South East Area Lifestyle Community Health Project (S.E.A.L.)

Urban Roots

A call for further applications will be published in the Spring of 2012.

Application forms may be obtained by contacting Ms Paula Steven at the Trades House of Glasgow Administration Centre by telephone; 0141 553 1605 or by email at info@tradeshouse.org.uk
