INCORPORATION OF COOPERS SUPPORTS THE GLASGOW SEA CADETS

The Incorporation has supported the Glasgow Sea Cadet Unit since 2009, in recognition of the historical links between cooperage and seafaring.  The Unit is based on the Tall Ship (The Glenlee and known by the Unit under its former name S.S. Galatea) at the Riverside Museum.

We sponsor a berth for a cadet at one of their training courses each year and present an annual award (an engraved barrel) to the most improved cadet as part of our Earl of Wessex Awards.  We give other grants to support the Unit and attend their parades.  The cadets have had a tour of the Trades Hall and they were on parade at the last visit of HRH the Earl of Wessex to the Incorporation in the Trades Hall in November 2010.
