Garden Outing -  16th May 2009

                        

                                Dawyck Garden 

The annual Garden Outing went to Dawyck Garden near Biggar.   Dawyck is one of the world's finest arboreta and Gardeners young and old had an excellent day wandering among the large trees of this magnificent estate which is part of the Edinburgh Botanic Garden.  The rhododendrons were at their best, as were the meconopsis (blue Himalayan poppies) and the bluebells.  The Deacon provided the usual refreshments and lunch was had either in the restaurant of the lovely new visitors' centre or in the grounds for those who had brought a picnic.
