Following a donation from the Incorporation of Tailors to the Sea Shepherd Conservation Society, Late Deacon David and Mrs Fiona Scott were invited to the Society’s AGM in London. They met with staff and volunteers, including the Society’s CEO and the European Operations Director and were also given a presentation on the conservation work which Sea Shepherd is involved in worldwide. This included Scotland, where they were delighted to discover that the Sea Shepherd Islands Trust had purchased the Island of Little Green Holm. Orkney Islands Council describes this island as, “…[a site] of outstanding nature conservation interest within the UK for its nationally important breeding colony of breeding grey seals.”
Thanks to support from the Tailors the Society have been able to bring forward their planned activities for Scotland and hope for even more support from the Trades House in 2011 when major campaigns will focus on whales, dolphins, seals and sharks whilst onshore activities will focus on development of outreach and education programmes, especially in Glasgow and Scotland.
