HMS Neptune Joins Mariners & Skippers
During the Chain Gang visit to HMNB Faslane "Admiral"1 Michael Low presented Commodore Chris Hockley with a Mariners & Skippers Burgee in recognition of HMS Neptune becoming a corporate member of the Trades House of Glasgow Mariners and Skippers Society. All service personnel based at Faslane will now be able to participate in Mariners & Skippers musters and other social events.
The Navy now join the Army in the shape of 51(Scottish) Brigade as corporate members demonstrating the strong links which the House has with HM Armed Forces and our enduring support for our brave service personnel.
1 Each Deacon Convener in turn receives the honorific "Admiral" of the Trades House of Glasgow Mariners and Skippers Society on election to post.

Special Projects
The Deacon Convener's Special Project this year is East Park Glasgow’s much-loved special needs school. Money raised at the Glasgow Ball to be held on Saturday 12 May 2012 will be used to enable the school to provide a whole range of specialist equipment and resources including transport, all of which help to enrich the lives of the children.
Social Work
Helping the needy by visiting, providing assistance directly and arranging social events for beneficiaries throughout the year.
Craft Skills
Arranging a competition for the 29 Schools and 10 Further Education Colleges with the best craftwork displayed in the Trades Hall during the four day CRAFTEX exhibition.
