Craftex 2009

Jill being presented with her Gold Medal

North Glasgow College Student, Jill Busby, won best in show Gold Medal honours for her hat design at Craftex 2009.

Jill retired from a career in retail display and completed a course in Advanced Millinery at North Glasgow College.  Jill was presented with the coveted Gold Medal by Deacon Convener David Dobson.

Other top awards included Best Design selected by the Deacon Convener which was presented to Alec Keeper of the Glasgow Metropolitan College for his gargoyle stone sculpture.

 

 

The Scottish Glass Society which presents an award for best glasswork, was won by Alfred Wood also of Glasgow Metropolitan for his stained glass window depicting flowers.

The Deacon Convener's Special Project this year is CHAS (Children’s Hospice Association Scotland). Money raised at the Glasgow Ball to be held on Saturday 8 May 2010 will be used towards their ongoing work at Robin House in Balloch.
