Joseph Rowntree Foundation - Chris Birt talk

Hosted by the Charities Committee on Wednesday 5th April, 30 members of the Trades House and their guests listened to a presentation from Chris Birt of the Joseph Rowntree Foundation on Poverty in Scotland and thereafter continued the discussion, focussing on the positive difference Trades House can make to the Glasgow’s most disadvantaged citizens

A musical spring event

Members of The Incorporation of Bonnetmakers & Dyers of Glasgow were entertained on 10th May by Nicola Woodward, an internationally renowned solo flute player. Nicola's concert was titled, "One World, One Flute" and featured music from around the world.

The Deacon Convener Bruce Reidford and his wife Anne were delighted to hand over our Glasgow's Spirit of Christmas donations to Barnardo's Easterhouse this morning.

Glasgow Spirit of Christmas 2020 Appeal

We would like to thank everyone who has donated to this years Spirit of Christmas appeal. As we were unable to purchase and deliver the gifts this year, the volunteers at the Glasgow Spirit of Christmas appeal very kindly purchased the gifts on our behalf and this photo is just some of the gift bags that we have funded which were collected by Barnardo's Easterhouse yesterday.

Trades House of Glasgow Deacon Conveners Charity Appeal

‘’It is customary for the Deacon Convener to promote a charitable objective whilst in office. We know that child poverty, much as a result of Covid 19, continues to be a major issue in the Glasgow region and I would like our focus this year to be on helping children and young people during these very difficult times.’’

To launch my Charitable appeal, we have designed an item which will be part of everyone’s lives (and wardrobes!) for some time to come – a very stylish face mask made from our own Trades House Tartan

DC day with a difference

‘DC Day’ is when the Trades House elects its new Deacon Convener. This traditionally takes place during a meeting of the ‘Old’ House members and the meeting is attended by many of the Ex Deacon Conveners
