Trades House Annual Lecture - Tuesday 15th June 2021

The Trades House of Glasgow Annual Lecture took place on Tuesday 15th June in conjunction for the first time with the City of Glasgow College. The Lecture was given by multi award winning (and Master Chef winner) Chef Gary Maclean

Gary spoke about how he started his career, his discovery of teaching and competition, how he passes his ethos of hard work and ambition onto the future of the industry, his love of Glasgow, the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic and how he risked it all for a TV show

‘If I can still chase my dreams, I can inspire students to start chasing theirs’

Fundraising for the Kinship Care Initiative

Ex Deacon Rose Mary Harley is once again taking part in the Kiltwalk and will be walking 10 miles

She is inviting you to join her to raise as much money as we can for the Kinship Care Initiative

As the event is being held virtually this year, you can walk, run, dance or just jump around and raise vital funds – so long as it is done between 23rd and 25th April

The Hunter Foundation will then donate 50% on top of every penny raised!

Glasgow Spirit of Christmas 2020 Appeal

We would like to thank everyone who has donated to this years Spirit of Christmas appeal. As we were unable to purchase and deliver the gifts this year, the volunteers at the Glasgow Spirit of Christmas appeal very kindly purchased the gifts on our behalf and this photo is just some of the gift bags that we have funded which were collected by Barnardo's Easterhouse yesterday.

Thanks to the generosity of the House, its Crafts, its members and its staff we made two donations totalling £2,420.00 meaning that at least 80 young people aged 13- 17 will wake up on Christmas morning with Christmas presents.

This week we were also delighted to make an additional donation of £5,000.00 which has come from the Deacon Conveners Charitable fund and which will be spent on gift vouchers, again to be given to young people aged 13-17

We cannot thank everyone enough for the support you have shown this year and the difference you have helped make to a young person this Christmas ๐ŸŽ„ ๐ŸŽ„
