What we do

The Trades House of Glasgow supports those in need throughout the Greater Glasgow area and organises educational projects and initiatives to motivate, inspire and reward those in education.

Charitable Funds

The Trades House manages funds in excess of £18 million and donations of more than £750,000 are awarded annually to deserving causes and individuals across the West of Scotland.

The various funds include The Commonweal Fund, MacFarlane Trust, Drapers Fund, Relief Fund and Education Fund.

Educational Initiatives

Education has been an important element of Trades House since it was established in 1605, giving support to the trades people of Glasgow and their families, offering assistance in times of strife and poverty. It housed the Trades Free School for boys and girls from 1806 to 1876, until the responsibility for education was given to the state.

Trades Hall

Home to The Trades House of Glasgow and located within Glasgow’s Merchant City, Trades Hall is a stunningly beautiful, historic venue, which creates the perfect backdrop for every event. Completed in 1794 it is the ideal location for both intimate and large wedding celebrations holding up to 250 guests and giving you something truly unique. It’s 6 unique rooms can accommodate a diverse range of meetings and events from 2-250 people.
