The annual Craftex competition and its associated exhibition provides a showcase for the very best work of students from the city's colleges. Encouraged by success in the competition many students have gone on to start up their own business or have been employed by others as a direct result of their participation in Craftex:

"After visiting Craftex last year I interviewed a number of students whose work I had seen in the Exhibition. Sam Lauriston was successful and is a great employee!"

– John Galvin, award winning cabinetmaker, craftsman and furniture artist

Craftex 2019 is an ideal platform for students to showcase their work in a city centre exhibition, win prizes and gain industry recognition, make industry contacts and create employment opportunities for themselves. They will be exhibiting alongside the best of Glasgow’s colleges’ students, and with over 50 categories ranging from Graphics to Nail Art, Industrial Product Design to DVD Technology and Plasterwork, there is a section for everyone.

None of this is possible without the support of our main partner for Craftex - Quilter Cheviot and our additional sponsors; Glasgow City Council and the Merchants House of Glasgow.

Trades House not only gives financial prizes for the best entries, but the work is exhibited in the Trades Hall, 85 Glassford Street, Glasgow, open to the public with free entry. This is a fantastic opportunity to see the best art, design craftmanship and technical skills that Glasgow's college student have to offer. It is always an incredible display and well worth a visit

This competition has been recognised by UK Skills as an outstanding national event.
